Consult http://lokigames.com/support/gldrivers for the latest news on drivers and installation. ---------------- (2) Installation ---------------- Run the self-extracting demo executable. $ sh sof-demo.run -------------------- (3) Playing the Game -------------------- Change to the SoF-demo directory and run 'sof', e.g.: $ cd sof-demo $ ./sof The first time you run Soldier of Fortune it will create a ~/.loki/sof-demo directory. Saved games, preferences, etc., will be stored here. Soldier of Fortune has an advanced command line configuration system. Some commonly used options are: +map - Load map at startup +set gl_driver - Use OpenGL driver +set console 1 - Enable use of the console An example of using these would be: $ ./sof +set gl_driver ./libGL.so.1.2.030200 +set console 1 +map trn1 If you need to disable DGA mouse (in bash): $ export SDL_VIDEO_X11_DGAMOUSE=0 Then run Soldier of Fortune normally. To connect to a multiplayer game over the Internet, use the "connect" command in the console, or on the command-line. E.g., if the server is at 192.168.1.37, you would use: $ ./sof +connect 192.168.1.37 Or, in-game, use '~' to bring down the console and type "connect 192.158.1.37". To connect to a LAN game, simply select it from the server list and then click on its name. ------------------- (4) Troubleshooting ------------------- The following are some of the more common problems you might have, and recommended solutions.
