Myth II Linux Demo Version 1.3e January 12, 2001 This playable demo of Myth II: Soulblighter for Linux has the following limitations over the full game : - Only three maps are available: two for solo games and one for multiplayer games. - Guest-only login to Bungie.net To give you access to the latest features and fixes of the full retail version, we have upgraded this demo to v1.3. This means, however, that you will only be able to play this demo with other Myth II for Linux Demo v1.3 users. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS * 133 MHz Pentium class or PPC processor (200 MHz or more recommended) * 32 MB RAM * 120 MB of free hard drive space. * Linux kernel version 2.0.x or 2.2.x * XFree86 version 3.2 or later. * /dev/dsp sound device for audio (the Enlightenment Sound Daemon is supported as well). PLAYING THE GAME Run ./myth2_demo in the main demo directory to start the game. The game will go fullscreen if it can, without requiring root privileges. The first time you run Myth II it will create a .loki/myth2_demo directory in your home directory. Saved games, preferences and plugins will be stored here. The following arguments may be given to Myth II: [-h | --help] Display this help message [-v | --version] Display the game version [-f | --fullscreen] Run the game fullscreen [-w | --windowed] Run the game in a window [-s | --nosound] Do not access the soundcard [-a | --alt-colors] Use alternate colors for the map view [-x | --x11cursor] Use the X11 hardware mouse cursor [-g | --gllibrary] Set GL dynamic library to use Use the ScrollLock key or Ctrl-G to toggle mouse grabbing. Use the Pause key or Ctrl-Z to iconify the game when it is run in a window. Use Alt-Enter to switch between fullscreen and windowed mode. The Print Screen key will save the current screen to: ~/.loki/myth2_demo/screenXX.ppm (where XX is a number starting at 0). If the Print Screen, Scroll Lock, Pause, or Alt-# keys are not working make sure your window manager is not overriding them. String widgets have standard UNIX keybindings. Ctrl-A - Move to beginning of line Ctrl-E - Move to end of line Ctrl-B - Move backwards Ctrl-F - Move forwards Ctrl-U - Erase line Ctrl-D - Delete character Ctrl-C - Copy to X clipboard Ctrl-V - Paste from X clipboard Dragging the middle mouse button will move the playfield. X11 SETUP Myth II requires XFree86 version 3.2 or later to run. In order to get fullscreen modes, you must make sure that the video resolutions you intend to use are properly enabled in your XF86Config file. We recommend you to have at least 640x480, 800x600 and 1024x768 since those are used by the game. NETWORKING On Bungie.net, you may not be able to join games hosted by people using a different version of the game or playing on some levels you don't have. The games you can join are displayed in white in the list of games. For this demo version of the game, you can only join games on the provided map (Gimble In The Wabe), playing with the "Last Man on The Hill" rules. 3D HARDWARE Hardware acceleration via OpenGL is now available in this demo.
